I’m Katherine Nilbrink, a wanderer at heart and passionate about travel, serving others and Africa. I love to be outdoors, walking long distances, exploring new places and connecting deeply with people to hear about who they truly are and what dreams they have for themselves. I get my wanderlust from my dad who inspired me with his inquisitive mind, love of learning about different cultures and people. To satisfy his curiosity, he moved us to a myriad of places around the world when I was growing up. I have been supporting Lalmba since 2001 as a way to give back to East Africa where I fell in love while studying and researching and have always dreamt of returning and giving back. Participating in Tembia Na Mimi 2017 is a dream come true and I am so excited to have this opportunity! I now live in Los Angeles with my Swedish husband and my 2 rescue chow chow dogs where I’ve transformed my front yard into an urban farm. When I’m not hiking in the mountains, I love paddle boarding with the seals in Santa Monica Bay.
